Seminar on Bridge Engineering at UAP CE department

Seminar on Bridge Engineering: Emerging Issues and Challenges jointly organized by Department of Civil Engineering, UAP and Bangladesh Group of International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) held at UAP city campus on August 27, 2014.

Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC UAP addressed the seminar as chief guest and Engr. M.A. Sobhan, Chairman, Bangladesh Group of IABSE attended as special guest.

Professor Dr. Y. Okui, Vice-Dean, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Saitama University, Japan delivered a lecture on the recent development of bridge engineering in Japan. He explained how bridge design policy in Japan changed in the last 20 years, from minimum weight design to total cost minimum, development of new high performance steel, life cycle cost, etc. Some recent movements in bridge engineering in Japan and also North America introduced in the seminar.

About 150 participants from different organizations including BUET, DUET, BBA, RHD, and AUST participated in this seminar.
